The Japan Association of International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering was established in 1984. The association comprises regular members from academic societies related to agricultural engineering, sustaining members from supporting organizations, and international members, individuals affiliated with regular members and registered with the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR).
Agricultural engineering is a discipline that studies engineering technologies related to the foundations of agricultural production, including field operations, mechanization, and the environment. The main research themes include “soil and water,” “structures and environmental improvements,” “farm machinery,” “electric power and energy,” “production management and labor science,” and “processing of agricultural products.” The field has contributed to the enhancement of agricultural productivity and advancement, while also supporting environmental conservation at both regional and global levels.
The association serves as Japan’s liaison to CIGR, the only global academic organization that encompasses all areas of agricultural engineering. In collaboration with the Science Council of Japan, it explores and envisions the future of agricultural engineering from a global perspective.
